I’m David Lohmeier.  After nearly two decades of practicing architecture for other firms, I pursued my dream of starting up my own practice and hence the creation of DaLoh Designs in 2004.  DaLoh Designs is a full service Architectural Design and Consulting firm in Coastal Virginia.   

I’m often asked, “What do you do?” When I answer, “I’m an Architect,”the typical next question is “Commercial or Residential?”My response: “Yes”.At this point of confusion, I offer the awareness, “I’m both. I’m a design architect.”

Quite simply, design is the process of creating effective, appropriate, and meaningful designs for various buildings really comes down to problem solving.  Good design is solving problems. To design well you need to be a good problem solver.  

DaLoh Designs prides itself in listening to the client, naming the problem, and engaging in a collaborative discussion to seek the answer. The answer being a design solution that has been vetted thoroughly and delivers balance of Quality, Economy, and of course Delight. We are consummate Problem Solvers.

The type of architectural designs we focus on is a broad brush of practice areas. We’ve completed projects for Developers, Federal Sector clients, Retail build-outs, and of course Private clients. Other project types we work with include Interiors Design, Space Planning, Renovations, and Master Planning. 

A key focus and love is Custom Residential projects. These projects can be the most challenging yet rewarding of building types to do. 

Our process and approach is to listen first, analyze the constraints, define multiple solutions and  bring options and the answer to fruition. We use multiple computer programs to carry the ideas thru the various design stages and create a fluid, seamless design with BIM, intelligent 3D design.
